Final Recommended Plan Released

In July of 2011, the Peel Land Use Planning Commission released the Final Recommended Plan for the watershed. The plan proposed protecting 80% of the Peel, including 55% permanent protection. Many First Nations spoke of this plan as a compromise, having initially stood for full protection of the watershed. Nonetheless, a broad swath of First Nations and non-First Nations people came together to stand behind the plan.
